This site is intended to highlight and recognize what is arguably amongst the most rare category of DeTomaso Panteras, the Group 5 racing Pantera (and it's equivalent IMSA GTX category in the USA) of 1976 - 1981.
There were only a few Group 5 Panteras from that era. Afterwards, two of those were converted back to Group 4 specification, one was converted to a Group C car, one was destroyed in a fire, and one is now driven as a "street car" in the USA! These are indeed a rare breed of Pantera!
Also presented is the build and conversion of chassis number 9313 as a Group 5 "re-creation" or "tribute" Pantera. This follows a recent trend in historic racing to take advantage of regulations that allow such cars to complete in events alongside the true originals from a particular era.
It's great to see the increased interest and access to such rare and iconic cars such as the Lola T70, which is now available as "new" and built to the original specifications for eligibility in historic racing events. Customers may soon even order a tribute to one of the most famous Group 5 race cars, the Kremer K3 935, direct from Kremer. Seems like a great opportunity for fans of Pantera race cars to likewise enjoy and honor that period when a few intrepid individuals and teams carried the DeTomaso banner into the top echelons of GT racing!
